WGJV presented the materials including cement bags and timber to assist the people complete the church building after they sought the company’s help.

It was a timely gesture for a community in need of a house for worship, and local leader Mathias Philip was grateful for the assistance.

“On behalf of the Timini Lutheran Parish, we thank WGJV for the support. We were short on finance and with these materials, we can build the walls, windows and flooring after a long delay,” Mr Philip said.

WGJV Community Affairs Manager, David Masani, said the company was happy to support a community that took initiative.

“Like this community here at Timini Village,” Mr Masani said. “The church is an historical one for this area and the people have shown initiative to renovate the church so they can have a strong and safe building to worship.”

Mr Masani said through good leadership and working together with the company, positive changes can come about in communities.

The donation was done under the Community Participation Agreement that WGJV has with the Timini community. Timini is located on the Bulolo Wau Highway and is about one hour’s drive from Lae, Morobe Province.
